Attorneys we have worked alongside
Over 20 years, we have worked alongside more than 15 independent licensed attorneys.
Each runs their own practice, and each has received a homeowner's research from us, sent at that homeowner's request. If you ask, we will give you the names of attorneys we have worked with.
Every attorney we name is independent: you would be their client, not ours, and they set their own fees.

Before you hire any attorney
- Check the license. Look the attorney up with your state bar or your state's court system.
- Get the fee agreement in writing. Ask questions until you understand it.
- Hire whoever you choose. You are free to hire any attorney you want, including one we never mentioned, or none at all.
When to call an attorney
Talk to a licensed attorney if any of these apply to you.
- You have a sale date scheduled.
- You have been served with a summons and complaint, and the time to respond is running.
- A judgment of foreclosure and sale has been entered.
- You are considering asking a court to vacate a judgment or reopen a case.
- You have a title problem, an estate, a divorce, or a co-owner dispute alongside the loan.
- Someone has told you that you have a claim against your lender.
- You are considering bankruptcy.

How referral coordination works
Three steps, and nothing moves without your say-so.
We make the introduction
We call the attorney's office, describe the matter and the county, and confirm they handle it before you spend time on a meeting.
We send your research, with your permission
Your research goes ahead of you, organized so the attorney can work from it at your first meeting. We tell you what we will share, and nothing leaves our office until you say yes.
Other ways to find an attorney
Your state and county bar associations run lawyer referral services. Legal aid and legal services organizations provide free representation to people who qualify, and many handle foreclosures. HUD-approved housing counselors can point you to both at 1-800-569-4287.
