Building and housing violation records
A city issues a violation when a building, or its use, does not meet a code. The record names the property, the condition, the date and a status, open or resolved.
Many buildings have violations from more than one agency: one handles construction and zoning, another housing conditions. In some cities an unpaid penalty can become a judgment against the owner.
Clearing a violation generally means correcting the condition and filing proof with the agency that issued it.
